What is NFV (Network Function Virtualization) next peneration networks Part I

Every sort of networking technology is rapidly developing and replacing with modern devices to make the functionality easier to produce the best outcome for corporate networks. These new innovations are profitable factors for any kind of business when next-generation networks implement at the right time to upgrade the technologies to match future requirements and enhance network security. Nowadays we can see network applications install in a cloud while hardware goes to the virtualization environment. 


Today we are going to discuss next-generation network - NFV (Network Function Virtualization). All required hardware is replaced in a single server where all other virtualized devices are being installed and act as a router, switch, firewall, load balance and many more as a change in the architecture of network domain in the concept of NFV aka network function virtualization. 


When referring to the above figure, there you can clearly notice the certain concept of NFV which means removing all the core hardware such as a router, firewall and load balancer at the customer premises and replaced in a single server with their functionality as virtual function this hardware. 

NFV consists of virtual machines with different operating systems. After installation various virtual machines on top of the hypervisor, you can install various types of operating systems on the virtual machines which would you like to use for your company network such as OS for the router, OS for firewall, OS for web servers and so on. Simply, all these components are in the x86 server and the technology is called NFV. 


Here we can see several frameworks in the NFV environment that can be divided into three major components.

1. When considering the VNF (Virtualized Network Functions) are software base implementation which can be deployed on NFV infrastructural (NFVI) like in the x86 server.

2. NFVI is the thesaurus of all hardware and software components which helps to build the environment for VNFs deployment. NFVI can be spread out for several locations and the network connectivity between these locations is considered as a part of NFVI as well. 

3. When making a workaround, the NFV Management and Orchestration (NFV-MANO) Architecture framework is the collection of all functional blocks. Data repositories used by these blocks. These functional block exchange information through reference points and interfaces to manage and orchestrate NFVI and VNFs. 

All the core hardware were located at your company network is replacing with a single server to function them all together in a single box. You can save your money over hardware cost by deploying NFV and it simplifies the network. No need to hire a rack or maintain a big consolidation room space to implement your network. Small space is sufficient to run your company network with high network security with full redundancy.
